Making use of a double dog bowl feeder for a pet or animal can be a good way to go about making sure feeding occurs as needed. In our breakneck, fast-paced world, it’s a sad fact that a beloved animal might not get the attention it deserves, on occasion. With these feeders, at least their food needs can be met.

Any good automatic food dispenser comes with a small cold storage box where one or two cans of special food can be held. The best units will even open and dole out food from those cans! Almost all feeders use modern electronics to handle the feeding and watering tasks, too. They can put out up to ten pounds of food at a time. This is an amount more than sufficient for most any pet.

Assembly of one of these units is pretty straightforward and non-complicated. Most of the good ones have easily-understood instruction manuals and even a video CD, to help in the tough spots. These CDs also have helpful advice about diet and exercise for your pet, which can be a good thing.

Most of these feeders are built to accommodate up to two pets. You set up the feeding and watering intervals as you deem they should be done throughout a day. Most handle up to eight different feed times. If your pet is a bit chunky, you can go all the way down to just one or two small-size feedings a day.

If you have a large or tall dog, or an animal with arthritis that prevents it from stooping over, you can buy a raised feeder. This is an ideal solution for a pet that prefers or needs its food in a bowl that’s raised up higher than it would be if it were on the floor.

Most of these automatic feeders are set up to accommodate animals in the fifteen to forty pound range. There are specialty feeders, though, and they can take on much bigger dogs or pets, if need be. None of them are very complicated or difficult to use, and they all dole out food with relative ease.

Most any double dog bowl feeder will come with a hopper of about 1.5 gallons of food capacity. In that size, you can place about 1.8 gallons of dry food in it, and it puts it back out safely and efficiently. All good feeders also have a watering feature, so that both feeding and watering of the animal can occur simultaneously.

Veterinarians recommend that quality dog products include stainless steel or ceramic dog bowls for your pets. Plastic bowls can become scratched or gouged, and harmful bacteria can take up residence in those gouges. If your dog bowl doesn’t come with steel or ceramic bowls, make sure to swap them out. And always ensure you use only dry foods in the double dog bowl, as most aren’t set up to deal with wet or semi-moist feed.
