The Heddon Torpedo series lures have been around for generations. The Heddon Torpedos are considered to be amongst the most widely used of all topwater lures. With more than 13 million Torpedos being sold to date, The Heddon Torpedo lure is the highest selling propeller-equipped surface bait in the world.

For some anglers, the Torpedo is the only surface bass fishing lure that they bother to carry in their box. The Torpedo creates a wild splashing disturbance on top of the water that the fish cannot resist. According to some torpedo lure reviews I have read, some daring anglers have stated that when fishing the lily pads from shore, they sometimes hike to a close by pond with just a torpedo lure attached to their line. They leave the tackle box at home!

There are 3 types of Torpedos, but the colour choices are vast. To start, there is the Teeny Torpedo, which is idea for light tackle. With the Teeny, you can expect to catch all sorts of panfish including crappie, bass, and trout. Next, you have the Tiny Torpedo. The Tiny Torpedo is used to haul in the largemouth and smallmouth bass. Lastly, you have the Baby Torpedo. The creation of this size was for the large gamefish. When fishing the Baby, grab your net for the big musky, bluefish, redfish, northerns, stripers and more.

The Torpedo imitates a wounded baitfish kicking about on the surface of the water. Naturally, a predator sees this as an easy meal and doesn't want it to go to waste. Also, they don't want any other hungry fish to get to it first so they attack it with a vengeance. These Torpedos can be cast quite the distance as well. They have an aerodynamic design allowing them to fly through the air and drop in the hot spots.
