Raise Your Game With A Scissor Lift
Scissor lifts (or man lifts) are versatile pieces of equipment that can be used for a wide variety of tasks. They are an alternative to boom lifts and portable aerial platforms, but of course they are specifically designed to be particularly useful in scenarios where there is only narrow access.
There are two specific situations concerning narrow, or restricted access where a scissor lift is the ideal solution. If you need to raise a platform for men to work from in some kind of shaft situation where it would be impossible to get a boom lift in, then of course the scissor lifts is the ideal solution. But also, there are many scenarios where a scissor lift needs to be taken inside a building that only has a small doorway for the lift to enter through.
Most scissor lifts when retracted are small enough to fit through a standard single doorway. You will find other clever features-for example-to protect precious flooring most lifts come supplied with non-marking tires. These are particularly useful when the lift needs to travel through a non-industrial area to get to an industrial area.
Due to the fact that scissor lifts are often used inside buildings that may contain people who are working in sound sensitive environments such as an office or a school, the electrically powered versions are fitted as standard with low sound emission electric motors. Another clever addition are wheels which enable zero turning radius which helps to manoeuvre the lift in very tight spaces and is also very useful for making minor adjustments from the platform when the lift is already fully extended.
Scissor lifts can be fitted with some useful additional features. These include platform work lights, an air line supply to the platform, and even folding guard rails which fold flat to make the whole lift even smaller when unextended. Many scissor lifts also come as standard with self levelling outriggers. Outriggers are the hydraulic support legs which push down to the ground (pushing the wheels off the ground) in order to keep the platform level. The self-levelling versions automatically find the level for the user.
Sometimes scissor lifts can malfunction after heavy use. This is where on board diagnostics come in handy. These allow the operator to diagnose and hopefully solve the problem while the platform is raised. This obviously saves time because the operator does not have to lower the lift in order to solve the problem.
Scissor lifts are a valuable tool for many businesses and one of the best solutions when having to carry out work at height. Raise your game with a scissor lift.
