Getting Your Exercise – No Gym Required
We all know that exercise is good for us. It makes you feel wonderful, it gives you more energy, and it makes your skin and hair healthier. Even if you have no desire to lose weight, you still need to get enough exercise in order to stay physically and mentally healthy. Exercise releases serotonin, which is the chemical in the brain that makes you feel happy. It is especially important to exercise if you have problems with depression. It will make a huge difference in your mood.
It is remarkable, with all the knowledge that is available regarding the benefits of exercise, how many people still do not get enough. These days, lots of people are content to sit at home watching television or playing the their computers with a custom lcd screen. When approached about working out more, lots of people will cite cost as a deterrent. They think that joining a gym is an expense they cannot afford. This is not really an excuse. The only thing that you really need to exercise is your body. You can do it on your own; gyms and personal trainers can help, but they are not necessary.
If there is a park with running trails or a track nearby where you live, that is a great place to begin exercising. However, you can also just jog on your neighborhood sidewalks. If you live near a high school, they may have a track you can use.
If you are just getting started, you may not be able to jog or run right away. This is okay. You can begin simply by walking. Any exercise that extends beyond what your body is used to will produce results in the beginning.
Bring some music to listen to while you work out. Make sure that you work out for at leas 30 minutes. You can time yourself with a digital sport watch. Stretch before you being. For the first few minutes, go at a slower pace to warm up and ease your body into the workout. When your muscles warm up, increase your speed. When you go faster, your body will release adrenaline and your energy level will increase. You may even feel a rush. If you can’t keep up the faster pace the entire rest of your workout, it is okay to go back and forth between faster and slower speeds.
Slow down to your warm up pace again about five minutes before you end your workout. Make sure you don’t stop too abruptly. This could shock your body. It needs a bit of time to come down from the speed of the workout.
We all need exercise. It helps us to live longer, and to feel better during our lives. Joining a gym is a nice luxury of you can afford it, but not being able to afford it is no excuse.
